Goodbye to TAG Math

It's time to impart your vast wisdom to those who will come after you. Think back on the year. What do you wish you'd known? What advice do you wish you'd had before you started this course? What would you like to tell the next class that will help them in their quest for mathematical excellence next year?
Write a short letter to those who will take this class next year. Offer information, suggestions and advice. Sign your first name and last initial. If you know a specific person who will take this course next year, you may address it to that person. Otherwise, address it to all future students. Be sincere and thoughtful. They'll appreciate and thank you for it.
Due by May 15

Comments:
dear Nick M.,
well 6th grade is an eventful year their are several pieces of advice for this class. one thing i would strongly recomend is that u dont chew gum or ull end up like me and have dentetion in the mornings most fridays before school. some things that will help you in this class are that if you cant figure the answer out and its an odd problem compare ur answer with the one in the back of the book but be careful sometimes shell ask you how you got this answer and sometimes the books wrong but its a good way to check your work annother thing is be good the 5th 6 weeks so she lets you chose where you sit( always get the back of the room it makes it so much more fun) all in all this is a fun class with a interesting teacher who will let you chat if you are doing your chat if u get your work done. heres a tip for gym always get out of the locker room fast thats where everything bad happens in gym and also make sure your cell phone is off during school otherwise one day it will go off in world cultures and you will have to get your parents to pick it up
sorry your stuck her (JK)
good luck nick,
scott s

Dear Future Students,
I remember reading the comments last year's students and learned some stuff.
There are games on the calculators but jut find the right one. Also don't make comments when she's talking, Adrian should know that. I don't have any advice really or anything I wish I had known. I know I was no help but just be prepared and it is a lot easier than you would think, just pay attention and take notes.

Sincerely,
Blair B.

Hola new TAG students of 2010!
Math will be so cool for ya'll! I know this becuase Ms. Mclinden is the best teacher ever! Just know to never shout out when Ms.Mclinden is talking, always have a big eraser on you when your math period comes and always study! Make sure that you know your fractions, and dividing decimals, etc., trust me it will get harder... and harder... not to make you scared or anything! Math may seem difficult, but in my opinion it was my FAVORITE subject!
Good luck this year,
Dominique E.

Future TAG Math Students,

First of all, I would like to wellcome you all to Ridgeview MS-You are now an official Panther!
Now lets get you an overview of what you will expect as a math TAG student. 6th grade TAG math is really different from 5th grade. Some of you had been taking regular 5th grade math, while others have been in TAG for a while, which means, that at the beginning it will be a little bit challenging, especially because each core subject is expecting quality work from you. There will be times when some teachers will give you homework, even if you have a TON of HW in other classes - there were times when I would have up to 3 projects at a time. Ms. McLinden goes fast, so don't slack off and do your work at the last minute. Also, don't chew gum in class. Ms. McLinden is an AWSOME teacher, but she will give detention for chewing gum if necessary. NEVER CHEW GUM!!! :)
You will also need to study, and learn your topics really well. Once again: DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO DO YOUR WORK!!! DON'T CHEW GUM!!! :)
In conclusion, do your work and don't chew gum, and you will enjoy this class, because Ms. McLinden makes it very enjoyable- I personnaly love this class and my teacher, and I am sure you will too!
Good luck!!!!!

Cassidy V

Dear 6th Graders,
You WILL have A LOT of homework in this class. This class is easy if you pay attention. Do NOT be lazy. When Ms.McLinden assigns you textbook problems, DO THEM! If you don't your gonna end up with like 7 missing assignments and then you are gonna go back to do them and it will all seem easy cause you learned it forever ago. I didn't realize all of this until like now and it's May.
Also DO NOT TAP during class. Ms.McLinden will Freak out. J.K. another thing is, don't make fun of the smart people in your class. It's not right because all of you are smart and it is a good thing.
If i had known this stuff when i was where you'll are I would be PASSING (I'm barely passing).
If any of you are in Mr.Cudjo's class...
1. Be Prepared for class EVERY DAY
2. Do you're Homework
3. If you don't understand something, Ask questions
Now you guys are ready for 6th grade.
You're Friend,
Sarah Fischer

Dear Future Students,
YAYZ! School maybe ending but that doesn't mean that we have spent all our time with Mrs. McLinden was a waste. You will have the opportunity to take a test to get into algebra. But enough about that. Here are some tips to stay alive until the end of the school year with Mrs. McLinden (jk)

~JuStIcE's MaGiC tIpS~

~Tip 1~ Do not chew gum. you may think you are sneaky but Mrs. McLinden has Eagle Eyes

~Tip 2~ Do not and I mean DO NOT Play games on your calculator. You will probably miss something and then how are you going to tell her that you were playing games and not paying attension.

~Tip 3~ DO NOT BE A PROCRASTINATOR IN HER CLASS!!!! Well if you want die which I don't think you do, do not procrastinate. You will regret it.
Well that is about all so I suggest that you listen to my tips if you want to live. Jk

Dear Future TAG Students,

Ms McLinden is a really great teacher. She is very understanding, so don’t be afraid to ask questions about what you are learning, however silly the question may seem. She also wants all of her students to succeed in math and do their best. Just remember to follow her rules:

Don’t Procrastinate!!!!
Don’t Chew Gum!!!!
Do have a C.A.R.E.ing attitude toward peers
Always do your best
HAVE FUN!!! :D

Dont get behind on ur work, cuz if u do, ull have a whole bunch more to do and get a bad grade and ur parents will get mad.

OK, there is a lot of things that I wish I knew at the begining of the year like that Ms.McLindin loves people who tap thier pencils. She also likes it when people turn in thier papers late and people who cheat from the back of the book. I did that and I'm her favorate student. Ms.McLinden doesn't care when you chew gum and you half to chew on plastic or she gets mad at you.She is also one of the most leniant and nice teachers that you will have in your 6th grade year. She would miss any of you if you were thier for half the year and then left unless your like somebody in my class. I'm just kidding. She would miss all of us if we left. She is my favorate teacher in my 6th grade year.

P.S. dont fail her class or she gets mad at you.
P.S.S. don't forget to tap your pencil.

Do your best. Try not to get in trouble. Do not cheat from the back of the book.Be nice.Try to know PEMDAS.Do not disrespect anybody, be responsibe, do all your homework before you play video games.Try to get good grades.

P.S what does P.S. mean?

Dear Future 6th Grade TAG Math Students,

Here's something you'll probably want to know:The back of the book, you know, the place where it gives the answers to the odd numbers, it's wrong a lot. If your answer doesn't match the one in the back, check your work, and if you can't find your mistake, either you wrote the problem wrong, or the back is wrong.

-Michelle G :0

Do all of your homework! If there are parts you don't get, Ms. McLinden will help you, so don't be scared to. If there are parts or homework pages you don't get, she'll drop your lowest grade, so don't panic. Always remember to take notes!

Sup 6th graders of 2009 and 2010.First let say that if you get a late assaginment it will haunt you forever. Well not forever but like a few weeks. And if eating Cheetoes you get sent to the back of the room. Also don't play Mario on the calculator because she hates that. And if your first name is Brain and your last name starts with a N you better watch out. Yeah....... so uhhh stay in school.

Dear future 6th grade tag student,
Miss mclinden is evil and right now or a bit ago she probably said something like "don't worry about what they say about me because I'm not that mean" and well she is lying. She is the meanest teacher and she gives u so much home work. Anyways if u want to stay on her good side then I wouldn't play any of the apps on the calcul8r. U will be tortured in this math class, I wish u luck but I don't think that will help so BYE.

Dear Future 6th Graders,
Here's some advice that will help you throughout next year.
1.) Be sure to pay atrtention in class, if you miss even 1 little thing it could totally effect your homework grade or anything that it applies to.
2.) Don't chew gum in class unless you like Friday morning detentions. I personally never did this but i observed this throughout the year in my math class.
Ms.McLinden is a really nice teacher and you are very lucky to have her this upcoming year.
Good luck!
Shelby R.

Dear Little 6th graders,
Well you have read this in like every single blog but in case you have not gotten the point here it is again DON'T CHEW GUM IN CLASS, TURN IN YOUR WORK ON TIME,ASK 4 HELP! Take notes when you are asked to do so BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH instead of going on and on about what to do and what not to do Im just gonna tell you one more thing have fun and enjoy Math its the best class ever and Ms.Mclinden is the best teacher EVER (unless you come from Gattis then you and I both know Mr.Brillhart is the bestest, mort awsomest Math teacher in the entire universe!!!!!).

Dear incoming sixth grader!
Welcome to ms. mcclinden's class! She's really, really, cool. There are only a few things you have to do so, make notes of this. First: Always pay attention! And take notes. that's a big one. And don't talk while she's talking.
2nd: Never chew gum!!!!!!! She gives out detention as soon as she sees it. And don't play games on the calculators.
And thirdly: Don't bite or tap your pencil! It really gets on her nerves.

If you do all of this, the class will be fun and easy. I din't and I was failing half the year.

good luck!
Love,

hello futer students: this is cody s,and all of u should know that ms mclindan is one of the greatest teachers you will ever have . she will help u with anythimg u need on ur way to becoming a 7th grader, all u have to do is try ur best. i hope u enjoy having her for a teacher as much as i did.

Dear Future 6th graders,
6th grade is really fun and lots of things are new that you have to get used to. first of all, NEVER CHEW GUM. You may think you are a master of disguise but Ms. Mclinden will catch you and you WILL DIE! (jk, you'll get detention.) Make sure you take notes and do all your work, it doesn't look pretty when you've got a ton of missing work. You can use the back of the book for odd questions but you better know how you got the answer. If Ms. Mclinden calls on you and you have know idea how you got your answer, SHE WILL KNOW. Ms.Mclinden is really nice and it actually ende up being my favorite subject. Oh, i forgot. NEVER TALK WHILE SHE IS TALKING, EVERYONE IN HER CLASS WILL AGREE. Don't get on her nerves. Never tap on the desks.
You will have a lot of homework at once. This isn't just worksheets, you may have 4 PROJECTS at once. You have to know how to balance your time and work on things that matter the most. Overall, 6th grade was really fun and i'm looking foward to 7th. Anyways, if you do something bad, all i can say is DON"T GET CAUGHT :)
- Mark G.
P.S i don't even know how i made it through, I doubt you will.

P.P.S To bad your stuck in 6th grade SUCKERS!!
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!

P.P.P.S If the teachers kill you before you make it to 7th grade, Farewell!!

Oh, I forgot, don't ever play on the calculators, but if you do, act like your paying attention. The games are only on 2 of the SILVER calculators. if you're lucky you'll get 1. Don't search for it though because Ms. Mclinden will know what your looking for.

Ms. Mclinden's fav student and the best 6th grader ever- Mark G.

P.S you'll have so much homework it's not even funny.
P.P.S Ms. Mclinden is EVIL!!!!!!!!

Dear future 6th grade TAG...
(SCRATCH THAT)
Dear &th grade,
To survive this year you will have to know a few things:
1. NEVER play Block Dude! (It's the game on the clear calculator; you'll know when you find it)
2. NEVER chew gum or you will get detention.
3. ALWAYS tap your pencil because Ms. Mclinden likes it (JK)
4. NEVER look at the back of the book for the answers, if you do a certain SOMEONE will get mad.
5. NEVER be absent or you will get VERY lost.
6. Get good grades here (if you have band: IF you want to go to Six Flags...).
7. Be nice to Ms. McLinden by not trying to try without wanting to not want to try to drive her nuts.
8. 7 means DRIVE MS. MCLINDEN UP THE WALL!!!!!!!!!!!(jk)
9. Try not to die.

dear 5th graders,
Ms. Mclinden is a rilly good teacher, trust me I'm the smart one. She likes when you chew gum in class. She gives you 20$ if you can chew 50 peices of gum at the same time. Remember to bring all your pets to school. Ms. Mclinden loves animals. Draw on the board as much as you want. If you run out of room erase the agenda. This is the most important rule of all NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER write your name on your paper. Ms. Mclinden says it's fun trying to figure out which paper is which by looking at the hand writting.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Hello future 6th graders. I am about to share with you some principals that I've gotten through on for this year. Before that though, let me share some of the fun things about TAG math. You get homework everyday (YAY!) you'll be plauged by project after project (double YAY!) and it's very easy to get detention (quit now while you still can), though I haven't got one yet. I'll now impart you with my vast wisdom.

Principal 1
Do any thing you want while Mrs. McLinden is talking, for example, I read.
Principal 2
Always play games on the calculator (Super Mario is fun), especially Block Dude. There are about 4 or 5 calculators with games.
Principal 3
Tap your pencil. TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP. Mrs. McLinden loves it. Do it until your hand hurts.

Now, which of these principals do you think is true?
1
T or F
2
T or F
3
T or F

Answers are: 1=F 2=F 3=F
(These are really all true)
If you got none right, you're a dummy
If you got one right, use your brain more next time
If you got two right, well done
If you got all of them right, bravo, you're ready for TAG math.
So keep up with your work and you'll be fine.

Pete S.

P.S. Good Luck (you'll need it)

The anonymous post above Pete's is from Rey.

dear people,
if you want to survive tag math here are tips
1.Don't chew gum in class or you get detention.

2. Don't chew gum in detention, if u realize u are then spit it out before she sees it( she didnt catch me 1 time)

3.If u wnt games on 2 silver calculators go to apps and then......

4. I will probably get in trouble for continuing number 3.

5.If ur lucky sometimes the work is in the back of the book along with the answer

6.I hope u have to sit with your teams in lunch cause we had to and it was terrible if u get in a bad team.

7. 6. had nothing to do with math but i felt like typing it

8.I dont know why everyone says tapping ur pencil is bad, she doesnt even give u a detention or anything u dont really get in trouble she just tells u to stop.

9.Our class (3 period) has the record of most ISS times i think(we have a lot) so try to beat it. im joking DO NOT TRY TO BEAT IT U DONT WANT TO GO TO ISS

123. Ask the teacher help if u need it

10. Dont worry about POWs they are very easy

11. there will usually be a competition between your classmates to see whose blog is the longest which in this case i probably won.

12.Most people use P.S s and all that so be the 1st to use them.

13. 13 is a great number so i will end here

THANK YOU FOR READING THIS I BET IT TOOK A LONG TIME

From the awesome:NEEL

By the wayur blogs are mostly completion grades so dont waste ur time to make it FULL with information just have a little information

Dear TAG students,
It is important that you receive this information. It will help when you "fully sprout" into 6th grade TAGlings. Make sure you read carefully, though you can always read it again:
1) Do your homework. You didn't skip it in 5th grade, you can't skip it now!!
2) Do not talk in class, you don't want to miss what Ms.Mclinden says. It is probably important.
3) Try your hardest. I don't know should not be said Can you help me, should be said.
4) Now this part is very important: Don't chew gum in any class. I'm pretty sure you don't want to be in detention!
5) Math is not recess! It took a little while for that to set in, but hey, your required core education is only 3 1/3 hours, much less than in elementary!!
6) You should not leave stuff in your locker otherwise you'll have to use passes. you only get 3 passes per semester so I'd prefer you use them for when you need to go (enough said).

Math is a fun class .

Eloz Math tag peoplez Ok guuyz ill tell you people that never chewgum or youll constantly get in trouble it got so bad this year ms.mclinden(the most awsomest math teacher in every middle school ever) gave people detentions if they got cought and always bring a pencil a big one with a extra eraser. Oh and dont trust the back of the book(where the answers are) theyre sometimes wrong so peoplez do good and welcomez to RIDGE VIEW MIDDLE SCHOOL!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...
OH YA I ROCK YES!

Dear incoming 6th graders,

First of all, welcome to 6th grade math TAG. Really, I don't like math, but I try my best anyway. And if you ever need help in math, Ms. McLinden is there for you all the way and she really will help you do better. Don't be afraid to ask for help, because I was and I'm just now starting to bring up my math grade and it's almost the end of the year! Also, be on top of the missing work list, because even if you think that you have turned everything in, I guarantee you YOUR NAME IS STILL OF THE LIST! There is always something, unless you're on top of it. Don't let the missing work list freak you out. Another thing, don't chew gum in class, because you WILL get caught and you WILL get a lunch detention. And if you're a chewer, wait until AFTER math. Never tap in class, because that annoys Ms. McLinden. Especially if it's all quiet, then someone starts tapping their pencil, she's like, "Can you stop?" If you don't understand everything, go to tutorials, they're on Fridays in the morning. Even if you just want to hang out in there. I will let you know, the year will be hard and challenging, and some of the stuff is a real pain in the neck, but believe me, WE COVER EVERYTHING. Even the stuff we all hate. I hope that all of y'all have a great year next year, and if you have a positive attitude, it will make everything easier.
(=^_^=) Sincerely,
Taran S

Dear future 6th graders,
Ms. McLinden is an awesome teacher but don't...

-talk when Ms. McLinden is talking
-tap your pencil
-chew gun
-play on games on a calculator

do...
-take notes
-do your homework (most of the time she has completion grades)
-pay attention
-bring a pencil
-study for tests and quizes

Also, be prepared to move through topics very quickly.

-Kayleigh N.-
P.S. When you get back to your classroom do not start tapping your pencil!!!!!!!!

hey everybody let me tell you about tag math. its awesome, except all the homework. tag is great it really challenges your brain.

future 6th graders,
KANE.T

hey tag students of 09-10 you are giong to love Mrs Mclinden she is one of the nicest teachers have ever had. Watch out for algebra though because if you dont listen you wount undeerstand it i learned it the hard way.
Kaliyah

Dear incoming TAG people,
I don't really know any of you..... but I have a few tips anyways...so here we go. TAG math is actually very interesting and fun. But even though you might get preoccupied with drawing whales on your hand during class, you really should pay attention, because you might just happen to not know a thing and get a fifty on your next test. And you really gotta listen to me here, I mean this is really important. Even though you never studied for tests in TAG last year doesnt mean you still wont have to this year. It comes in very handy. I speak from experience here. And test corrections, you really gotta take advantage of them. They could help you a whole lot in the long run. And you better keep up with your assignments too. Also, there are answers to the odd numbered questions in the back of the book, but they are not always right. so you could look in there and copy, but you might just end up getting a thirty two or something rediculous like that. And some other tips just about school in general is to keep your cell phone off, cuz even if you put it on vibrate it could still be loud and it might go off when your world cultures teacher is standing right next to you. So dont try it. Also Mrs. Mclinden doesnt really friek out if you tap. Just dont do it anyway. And dont sing Disturbia with Laura Woodfin when shes talking about integers. You will get very embarassed.

Okay I'm done.

Cynthia G
P.S. Wolves are so cool
P.S.S. Clarinets are better than trumpets.

Dear new victims
You are going to like six grade math but listen if you don't turn in your work, or don't do your homework your going to fail, or maybe if you don't do corrections that could possibly also make you fail. But if you turn everything in you will most likely pass no problem. and other advice you will notice that almost every teacher or assistant principle is pretty stuck up but if you stay out of trouble that might get better (no promises) but just stay out of trouble unless you want lunch detention, after school detention, before school detention, office referral, ISS, OSS (oss out of school detention just clearing that up) and if your like me you can probably get away with stuff pretty easy but don't test the teachers they will know that your one of the kids that act badly and they will keep an even closer eye on you and then you will be cot for every little thing you do. and don't...
chew gum
throw things
hit others
yell-scream
don't talk back to the teacher she will always win
don't cheat in the back of the book (it has all the answers for the odd number problems)

ya and pay attetion

dont mess up your life

><><><>< Collin c. ><><><><><><><

Dear incoming 6th grade TAG students(Cassie B.),

I am writing to get you on to a little secret about your next year. First turn ALL your work in on time. It really brings your average down. Dont talk out of turn she really gets mad for that. NEVER chew gum, you may think its cool but Ms. Mcklinden will give you detention for it. (not me though:)) if the guy with the money comes try to be the helper so you can get a $2 bill. Study for your tests all the time. it didnt help me to be involved in 50 million things every day. Dont brag about being so smart other people get offended.
Ms. Mclinden really is a good teacher with a kind heart just dont get her MAD she goes crazy. Try not to get ISS are time this year in ISS has been 6 people!
Cant wait for all of you to get beaten up

-MADI H. 3rd

Madi H
I will take your comment to mean getting "beaten up" mathematically, but I hope it has not been that bad!

Peodple need to do what they are told to. There are many things to do in this class,so do things in priority order and do a equal amount each night. It is ok to play but your homework is more important. so do your homework first because you never know how long it will plus stay on your teachers' good sides unless you want punishment because they are not afraid to deal with the trouble makers. Oh, unlike the elementary, it is pretty easy to get a referral or detention.
Garrett 3rd

Dear future students,
I have one word of advice DON'T talk to much! I used to get in trouble all the time for talking in class when I wasn't supposed to. TAG is pretty challenging but Mrs McLinden will help you through it.
-Laura W.

Dear future 6 th grade TAG kids,
6 th grade is an exciting year, you meet new people and get to have great teachers like Ms. McLinden. When you are in her class DO NOT: chew gum(u will get detention, and if you miss you will have to do it more days), tap your pencil, also it is best not to get late work because it will hurt you bad. It is OK to say your oppinionif you think something is wrong. Near the end of the school year though the work gets hard so dont be afraid and not ask someone u can also compare answers with the back of the book but DONT copy them!!!!!!!!!!The calculators are fun but dont play the games because she can tell. After your work is done though, you can write messages, turn off the calculator w/o clearing it and the next person to use that calculator will see your message when they turn it on.:-)
- Emily Howard

Nix on the leaving messages for the next class. It is disruptive and many of those messages have been impolite.

to all incoming tag 6th graders,

Always remember this great advice:

Always get a silver calculator, because, if you're lucky you might get the one with super mario bros.
If so Press the 2nd key to jump.

Always remember this advice and you will get through math easy.(maybe)

Daemon T.

DEAR 5TH GRADERS,
I only have one word advise....... run.(jk) always do your homework and dont listen o scott i chewed gum soooooo much in mrs. mclindens class and didnt get caught once all u have to do is if u get caught chewing gum just swallow it.....

christian s.

this is christian jk on the gum chewing dont do it!!!!!!!

Dear Future Students,
Welcome to RMS! It's a great school. Here's a few tips for Math Tag this year: Don't chew gum, because a lot of other people notice and "accidentally" shout it out to the whole class. DO you homework the day you get it if you can. It will be A LOT easier if you do. Listen all during class except when you're done and have free time. Mrs.McLinden gives out way too many hints and things get really simple if you catch them. Don't copy off other people because you are taking this class so you have to know this stuff too! Especially if you want to get in to Algebra. That's about it, so good luck!

Dear Future 6th Graders and Nick M.,
Behold! Your 6th grade year is finally here! I hope you guys have been enjoying your first year of middle school so far! I’m here to tell you a couple pointers on how to stay successful in 6th grade TAG Math...
1- Don’t be afraid to be smarter than everybody else! Some people might make fun of you or say that you’re a nerd just because you are in TAG. Just a hint, DON’T LISTEN TO THEM!!! Be proud that you are smarter than everyone else!
2- Always turn in your work on time!!! If you don’t, you will get behind and not get the grade that you are capable of actually getting.
3- I never chewed gum in class, but I’ve seen other people chomping on it while they are doing their work and Ms. McLinden is like a jungle cat... She recognizes everything and will get you with that gum. You may think you are sneaky but you aren’t. :) (But Ms. McLinden isn’t scary like all the other teachers that you may find scary getting onto kid’s cases for chewing gum.)
4- Always do your work the night before and not in the mornings. That will just mess your schedule up and you will never get your priorities straight. So, always do your homework the night before and not in the mornings before school or in advisory.
5- This is the most important one. You need to try your best in anything you do and everything you are capable of achieving and have fun! TAG Math will get hard sometimes, and you will want to quit and do something harder, but just keep on going and you will do fine. (Just don’t be afraid of a couple B’s.) When it gets hard, ask your supportive parents or Ms. McLinden and they will be happy to help.

I wish you all the best of luck in your 6th grade year. Hope you enjoy Ridgeview and I will see you all around the school!!!
